RESIDENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT IS AT THE CORE OF THE DESIGN PROCESS.

The Reimagine Alazan Courts Master Plan was a design process initiated by Opportunity Home to determine the future improvements to Alazan Courts. Designers from Able City and Alamo Architects collaborated with residents, neighbors and community members to develop a plan to rehabilitate existing Alazan Courts buildings, provide new construction and improve parks and open space. As Alazan Courts is improved some buildings will be renovated and others will need to be demolished. Some residents from Alazan Courts will be relocated to the 88 newly constructed units at Alazan Apache expansion while renovations are happening at Alazan Courts, to ensure that nobody is displaced from the neighborhood.

Residents Committee

The Resident Committee will meet 8 times over the course of the master plan process to learn, evaluate and prioritize different elements of the design to ensure the process and proposed solutions reflect the goals and vision of Alazan residents. The committee is reserved for Alazan-Apache residents only. Each meeting will provide childcare, food, and a $50 stipend per household (to receive the stipend, residents are required to attend at least six meetings).

Public Meetings

Each phase of the master plan process will include a large public event. These events will focus on keeping the residents and community informed about the progress of the design and include fun activities designed to get key community input that will shape the design.

Community Committee

The Community Committee will meet 6 times over the course of the master plan process to learn, evaluate and prioritize different elements of the design to ensure the process and proposed solutions reflect the goals and vision of greater community. The committee is open to anyone interested in the future of Alazan Courts. Each meeting will provide childcare and food.

Community Outreach

Community Outreach is when the design team comes to you. Over the course of the year the design team will be at community events, hosting pop-ups and door knocking. Please engage us when you see us around!
