Community Feedback

Throughout Phase 1, Able City design team members collected feedback from the residents and community members of Alazan Courts. In many ways, such as door knocking, phone calls, one-on-one conversations, and meetings. These open-ended conversations allowed for residents and community members to share their concerns and ideas for the future of Alazan Courts.

Throughout our conversations, there were a number of key issues that were frequently brought up, such as:

Accessibility 

Open Spaces 

Displacement 

Maintenance 

Amenities

Safety 

Preservation 

Unhealthy Living Conditions

Sense of Community 

Cultural Significance  

Able City had a total of 196 interactions.

60% of these interactions were with Alazan Courts Residents, while 40% of the interactions were with Non-Residents.

22% of Interactions Mentioned "Preservation"

60% of these comments were from Alazan Residents, while 40% were from Non-Residents.

50% of residents and 21% of non-residents spoke positively towards demolishing or replacing the existing buildings.

50% of residents and 79% of non-residents spoke positively about preserving the existing buildings.

  • History and Cultural Significance 

  • Materials that have lasted over 80 years 

  • Preserving the same look and feel of the buildings 

  • Keep the same as they are

  • Replace them completely

96% of these comments were from Alazan Residents, while 4% were from Non-Residents.

93% of these comments were from Alazan Residents, while 7% were from Non-Residents.

58% of these comments were from Alazan Residents, while 41% were from Non-Residents.

100% of these comments were from Alazan Residents, while 0% were from Non-Residents.
