ALAZAN COURTS MASTERPLAN
The Reimagine Alazan Courts Master Plan is a design process initiated by Opportunity Home to develop a vision for the future of Alazan Courts. Opportunity Home hired Able City, Alamo Architects, and Economic Planning Systems to engage and work with residents, neighbors, and community members to design a plan that will guide the coming investments at Alazan Courts.
A successful master plan will meet the needs of the families that live at Alazan Courts, will honor the history and culture of Alazan Courts, will have a light and respectful impact on the environment, will meet the various local, state and federal regulations, will draw the necessary funding sources to make the project feasible and will navigate the site challenges and constraints. The design process will investigate and develop solutions that navigate all of these complex issues.
PROJECT GOALS & COMMITMENTS
HISTORY & CULTURE
The planning process started in February 2022 and will continued through November of 2022. Resident and community engagement was the core of each of the four phases of the design.
First the design team focused on listening to residents and community members, learning about the priorities and challenges for Alazan Courts. The team built relationships and stakeholders so there could be open and honest communication throughout the master planning effort.
Phase 2 began with developing a project mission with residents and community members, which helped guide the design process. Based on ideas generated from the community, the design team generated 4 different potential design solutions.
In phase three, the design team shared several proposed masterplan concepts and solicited feedback from the community. In collaboration with the Opportunity Home leadership, the team and community chose a final design concept.
In the final phase, the team shred the design concept with residents and community members and developed strategies to support the implementation of the master plan.
